KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Buyung Poetra Sembada Tbk (HOKI), through its subsidiary, PT Hoki Distribusi Niaga (HDN), is building an innovation ecosystem through collaborations with academic institutions. At the Dailymeal Foodnovation Hospitour 2025 event at Pelita Harapan University (UPH), Hoki Distribusi Niaga sponsored a competition among Indonesian students to create culinary creations using products such as Porang, Cassava Rice, Corn Rice, and Cassava Rice. "We want to rebrand healthy food as something that is also delicious and acceptable to a wider market. Through this competition, we want to learn how the younger generation can process Porang Rice or Cassava Rice into modern dishes," said Amar Ramdani, VP of Marketing at PT Hoki Distribusi Niaga, on Wednesday (April 16).
The collaboration with UPH is not just an educational opportunity, but part of HOKI's go-to-market strategy to strengthen product adoption and positioning among Gen Z, millennials, and urban consumers. "We've invested in R&D, and campus collaborations like this are crucial for connecting innovation to consumers," said Amar. The output from this competition can also be explored for commercial development. HDN is open to collaboration with restaurant partners so that the competition's menu can be offered to the public. "This proves that HOKI isn't just selling raw rice, but is building an engine of innovation through Dailymeal," he said. "We want to prove that local food isn't just traditional, but can be the future."
Diena Mutiara Lenny, Dean of the UPH Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, said the results of this competition offer the potential for commercial development. "We collaborate with judges from the hotel and restaurant industry. If a menu item is deemed promising, it can be further developed into a commercial kitchen," she explained. For your information, during the first trading session on Wednesday (April 16), HOKI shares were trading at Rp 78 per share, down 1.27% year-on-year. Meanwhile, year-to-date (YTD), HOKI shares have fallen 31.58%.
